Lights Up

Lights Up, Lily Johnston, colour pencil on paper.

In this coloured pencil drawing, I explored the task of rendering glass in the form of several light bulbs. This piece offers a closer look at a mundane object in an everyday setting. I emphasized the contrast of light and dark, which relates exactly to the job of a light bulb. Every day we utilize the luxury of a light bulb to provide us light and a feeling of security, yet they are unimportant to us. This drawing displays the beauty found in the glass, the highlights, and all the elements that create this necessary piece of overlooked technology.
