Pages of Potential, Isabelle Houde, graphite pencil.

Pages of Potential is about how we are surrounded by things we never pay attention to, but those very objects have the potential to be something more. Just like how each page of a sketchbook has the possibility to become more than a sketch. It features myself drawing in my sketchbook in my school’s art classroom. Other people’s artworks are seen hanging on the walls and sitting on the shelves in the background, their art becoming a part of mine. Me lying on my binder that is curved because it is nearly empty, shows the fresh start of a new semester. The whiteboard sign with poorly erased words represents the nature of everyday life. Even the simple fluorescent lights above me that always lights up my work space to allow me to make this piece. The small simple details in this piece show anything can be art and be beautiful.
