The thought of “family” may not have seemed significant when we were younger but, as we grow older and lose more of those that we hold dear, we begin to finally realize the beauty and importance of spending time with family. Each fruit on the phone that I am holding corresponds with the colour of my mom, dad, and sister’s bubbles, representing their favourite fruits, and as well as mine. This is because something that is commonly done in asian households is cutting up fruits as a way to apologize after an argument and showing love. Moreover, each bubble contains my favourite pictures and memories of my family, which were taken during the time I spent with my family in Japan and Taiwan in the summer. Each picture is unique in terms of expressions and emotions in order to portray my mother, father, and sister’s personalities. I wanted to illustrate the significance of the time spent with your family members and how these moments should be cherished and not taken for granted simply because of its societal value.

To me, you are my everything, Eliana Fai, watercolour painting.
