Grade 10, Rundle College, AB

My name is Rachel Kim, and I attend Rundle College High School. I am a Korean Canadian living in Calgary, Alberta, and my main hobbies are figure skating, playing the alto saxophone, and making art. Ever since I was young, I grew up drawing my favourite characters from television shows, mostly in styles of cartoons and manga. Later, I began to have an interest in realism and started studying the basics of drawing, especially in forms of shapes like cubes, cylinders, and spheres. I continued drawing and started enforcing watercolour into my art, which I fell in love with. I stayed with these mediums until I was exposed to many different forms of art in Grade 10, like acrylics, oil paints, and ceramics. Now, I make art outside of school and challenge myself to new ideas and prompts to make artwork that I am proud of.
